Housing 2

Well, things certainly change! I now have 2 roommates, and we have found a three bedroom home to live in near the annex. Photos can be found here. Things are progressing slowly towards school starting! We're getting the lease info figured out here, and then its on to figuring out the whole barrel shipping scheme!

Housing

The roommate and I have been looking into housing, and so far it's kind of looking like we're going to try for this place, which the Ross University Housing page claims is only "30 seconds" from campus. I highly doubt it, but as it seems to be just about the closest place, I'll take it! We're asking now whether its open or not, but I certainly hope it is. It ill be such a relief when I have someplace to live and won't have to worry about sleeping in a ditch....

And so it begins...

I found out three weeks ago I’d been accepted into Ross University’s School of Medicine entering January 2010. For anyone who doesn’t know, Ross is a foreign medical school on the island of Dominica in the Caribbean. Right now, we’re at about sixty days and counting, but I’d like to go over quickly how I got here.

I graduated Columbia University with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior in May of 2008. I did very well on my MCAT, but my grades were lacking and I had a little trouble getting into an American medical school. Well, maybe more than a little

I applied to Ross and was actually planning on taking the GRE in the middle of November, when I received a call from them asking me to come in for an interview. The rest is history…

Now I’m in the middle of planning everything out, and decided that I should really try to keep an account of my time at Ross, and hopefully after as well. I know I have been getting most of my information from previous students, and hope to help future ones this way!

So far, I’ve filled out all of my financial aid forms, gotten almost everything done for my student visa for Dominica, found a roommate and a possible apartment, bought a few books and figured out where to get a barrel to ship a few extras! It has been a whirlwind few weeks, but I’m hoping it will all be for the best and four years from now I’ll be where I want to be in life, well on the road to being a successful physician and fulfilled person.

I plan on adding a few more posts in the next month or so detailing how I got everything done getting ready for school, and once I’m down there letting everyone know how it is!
